Properly rewinding a fire hose with two people ensures efficiency and safety. Follow these steps:
Drain and Prepare the Hose
After use, start by draining all remaining water from the hose. This prevents weight and mold issues during storage.
Fold and Position the Hose
Assistant’s Role: Help the primary operator fold the hose in half to create a double layer. Leave the lower hose segment about 30 cm longer than the upper segment. Use your feet to secure the hose near the connector, keeping it stable.
Primary Operator’s Role: At the opposite end, begin rolling the two-layered hose. Shake and straighten it to ensure a flat, even fold, then bend over to start rolling toward the connector.
Coordinate Movement
Assistant’s Role
Walk 2 meters ahead of the primary operator and straddle the hose, standing with feet on either side. Bend over to lift the upper layer of the hose with both hands. Then keep the two layers neatly stacked. This helps the primary operator roll the hose smoothly.
Primary Operator’s Role
Roll the hose forward while the assistant slowly steps back. Maintain tension until the entire hose is coiled.
Final Check
Ensure the gap between the two metal connectors in the coiled hose is less than 10 cm. This prevents tangling and ensures proper storage.
