Rubber hoses are a common material across various industries, used to convey a wide range of substances such as air, water, and oil. However, during daily use, hoses often encounter issues like leakage and bursting. So, how can we maintain rubber hoses to prevent these problems?
First, conduct regular inspections
When in use, rubber hoses are affected by temperature, moisture, and air, which can cause them to age. Moreover, the joints of rubber hoses will also experience a certain degree of wear over time. For this reason, it’s essential to inspect rubber hoses regularly, ideally once a week. By doing so, you can promptly identify any issues and replace the hose when necessary.

Next, implement anti – friction measures
In the process of using rubber hoses, they might be dragged across surfaces. Take the pressure washer hose as an example. Even though rubber hoses are designed to be wear – resistant, friction can still cause damage. At Orientflex, we recommend using a spiral protective sleeve. Our spiral guards are made from modified PP material, which ingeniously combines the elasticity of PP with the friction resistance of PE. As a result, it offers excellent protection for flexible rubber hoses. Testing shows that under a pressure of 1.9MPa, after continuous grinding for one thousand kilometers, the wear thickness is only half a millimeter. Therefore, once the spiral protective sleeve is used, you don’t have to worry about friction – related damage anymore. Additionally, it can extend the service life of the rubber hose by at least three years.

Finally, clean the rubber hose properly
During operation, dust, oil, and other pollutants may stick to the rubber hose. If left uncleaned for an extended period, these substances can corrode and damage the outer rubber layer. Thus, regular cleaning of the hose is necessary. After cleaning, make sure to dry both the inside and outside of the hose thoroughly. Then, store it in a dry and dark place to ensure its longevity.
