Industrial rubber hoses are essential in all industries. In food processing, you need special food-grade hoses to move food or beverages. In the chemical industry, on the other hand, chemical hoses are necessary for transporting acids, alkalis, and solvents. Generally, rubber hoses last a long time. But you must use and install them correctly. Installing rubber hoses involves many considerations, and the six most important ones are as follows.

  1. To keep rubber hoses in good working order, avoid deforming them during installation. This includes axial, transverse, or torsional deformation—even to correct errors in the pipe system’s position.
  • All movable parts of rubber hoses must not get blocked by external components. They also shouldn’t have their normal movement restricted.
  • When operating pipelines with rubber hoses, open and close valves gradually. This prevents sudden pressure changes in the pipes, which could damage brackets or the hoses themselves.
  • Brackets must meet design requirements. Never test pipeline pressure before installing the brackets, as this could damage the rubber hoses.
  • If pipes need insulation, apply it to the rubber hose’s outer protective sheath. Also, never use insulation materials that contain chlorine.
  • Rubber hoses are made from thin-walled plates. So during transportation and storage, take care not to damage them—avoid knocks, scratches, arc ignition, welding spatter, and the like.
