Flexible metal hose pipes are invaluable in modern industry. They have strong, durable structures that give them long service lives. But proper installation and use are key. Metal hoses can compress or stretch, but incorrect installation leads to fractures. This shortens the stainless steel pipe’s lifespan significantly.
Before installing, first understand the metal hose’s length types. There are three main lengths to note:
Compression length: The shortest length when the hose is fully compressed.
Installation length: The length when the hose sits in the middle of its maximum displacement range.
Stretch length: The longest length when the hose is stretched to its maximum limit.
Correct Installation Methods for Metal Hose Pipes
When installing flexible stainless steel tubing, position it at its middle length. You can connect it using flanges, threaded joints, or other methods. Placing the hose in this middle position lets it move in two directions under axial loads. If it can only move in one direction, the metal pipe’s strength weakens. This, in turn, shortens its service life.
