According to statistics from the fire department, more than 60% of the fires are caused by electrical line failures each year. The aging and quality problems of wires and cables have become the main fuse of fire accidents. So what are the reasons for the aging of cables and wires?

External force damage

According to the operation analysis in recent years, especially in areas with rapid economic development, many cable failures are caused by mechanical external force damage. Sometimes if the damage is not serious, it will take several months or even years to cause the damaged part to completely break down and form a fault. Sometimes, if the damage is serious, a short circuit failure may occur, which directly affects the safe production of electricity and electricity users.

Insulation dampness

It usually occurs at the cable joints in direct burial or drainage pipes. For example: if the cable joints are not made properly and the joints are made under humid climate conditions, water will enter the joints or water vapor will be mixed in, which will gradually destroy the insulation strength and cause accidents.

Chemical corrosion

Corrosion of cables is often caused by long-term exposure to chemicals or electrical corrosion. Corrosion of the outer sheath or corrosion-resistant protective layer leads to cable failure.

Long-term overload operation

Overload operation will increase the temperature of the cable due to the thermal effect of the current. When the cable is overloaded for a long time, the high temperature will accelerate the aging of the insulation and even the insulation will be broken down.

Cable joint failure

The cable joint is the weakest link in the cable line. Cable joint failure caused by direct fault of personnel (poor construction) often occurs. During the process of making cable joints, if the construction personnel have problems such as poor crimping and insufficient heating, the insulation of the cable head will be reduced, thus causing accidents.
